De 39e Golden Joystick Awards-presentatie werd gehouden op YouTube en Twitch, een verdubbeling als een viering van 50 jaar gamen. De show bevatte 20 categorieën prijzen waarop werd gestemd door het publiek, evenals 2 categorieën die werden behandeld door critici.
Onder deze prijzen won Metroid Dread de titel van Nintendo Game of the Year, terwijl Dark Souls werd gekroond tot Ultimate Game Of All Time.
